Class 2 Multi-Channel LED Power Supplies for Signage

FAHOLD provides Class 2 constant-voltage LED power supplies for channel letters, illuminated signs, commercial light boxes and signage systems requiring multiple separately rated output circuits.

The L2 Series supports 100–277Vac input and includes 12V and 24V models. Available configurations range from compact single-output products to two-, three-, four- and five-channel power supplies.

For larger signs, selecting the correct driver requires evaluating the total LED load and the power allocated to each output circuit. A higher combined wattage does not mean that the entire rating is available from one channel.

Compare 12V and 24V Multi-Channel Class 2 Power Supplies

Output VoltageAvailable Channel ConfigurationsRated Output RangeRecommended Use
12Vdc1–5 channels60–300WChannel letters, 12V LED modules, illuminated sign cabinets
24Vdc1–4 channels60–384WCommercial LED light boxes, 24V signage modules, distributed lighting

Select the output voltage based on the LED module specification. Then evaluate the load on each circuit, output current, allowable operating conditions and the sign's wiring layout.

Class 2 Power Supplies for Channel Letters

Channel-letter signs may contain many LED modules distributed across individual letters or sections. For a 12V installation with two separately fed groups, the L2-120X-012-2 offers two rated 12V/5A outputs with 120W combined capacity.

For larger signs with five separately fed branches, the L2-300X-012-5 offers five 12V/5A outputs.

Individual channel current limits must be respected even when the combined LED load is below the driver's total rating.

Class 2 LED Power Supplies for Light Boxes

Large commercial light boxes may use 24V LED modules distributed across multiple lighting sections.

For example, the L2-200X-024-2 provides two 24V/4A outputs rated at 96W each, for 192W combined output.

For four separately powered 24V sections, the L2-400X-024-4 offers four 24V/4A outputs with a combined rated capacity of 384W.

The appropriate model depends on actual load allocation, cable lengths, thermal conditions and required Class 2 documentation.

100–277Vac Input for North American Sign Lighting

The listed FAHOLD L2 models use a 100–277Vac rated input platform, allowing selection for commercial signage projects using common North American nominal supply voltages such as 120V, 208V, 240V and 277V.

The AC input voltage and DC output voltage are separate specifications. A commercial 277Vac circuit may supply a compatible L2 power supply that delivers regulated 12Vdc or 24Vdc to the connected LED modules.

Where dimming is required, verify the exact L2 configuration and compatible control interface before ordering. A wide AC input range does not automatically guarantee every dimming mode at every input voltage.

Multi-Channel Class 2 vs. Single-Output LED Sign Power Supplies

Choose a multi-channel Class 2 platform when the design requires several separately rated low-voltage outputs.

For a sign using one output bus, a single-output LED sign power supply may provide a simpler solution, subject to its electrical rating and the project's applicable safety requirements.

When evaluating either architecture, confirm:

  • Rated input and DC output voltage.
  • Connected LED wattage and current.
  • Maximum output capacity for every circuit.
  • Available enclosure space and wiring requirements.
  • Applicable Class 2 certification and installation documentation.
  • IP protection, temperature limits and dimming requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between a multi-channel and a single-output Class 2 LED power supply?

A multi-channel Class 2 LED power supply provides several separately rated output circuits. This allows signage loads to be divided into different branches. A single-output power supply provides one rated output and cannot be assumed to offer the same distribution arrangement.

2. Are FAHOLD Class 2 LED power supplies available in 12V and 24V?

Yes. The FAHOLD L2 Series offers both 12V and 24V constant-voltage models. The 12V range includes configurations with up to five output channels, while the listed 24V range includes up to four output channels.

3. Can a 192W Class 2 power supply deliver 192W through one output?

No. The FAHOLD L2-200X-024-2 is rated for 192W combined output through two separate 24V/4A channels. Each channel is rated for 96W and must remain within its individual current and power limits.

4. Can FAHOLD multi-channel Class 2 drivers operate with 277V AC input?

The listed L2 models support a rated 100–277Vac input range, including common North American commercial supply voltages. Confirm the selected model's documentation and any required dimming interface for the actual installation.

5. Are L2 multi-channel Class 2 power supplies suitable for outdoor signs?

Selected L2 configurations offer IP-rated enclosure protection for signage environments. However, suitability for an outdoor or wet-location installation depends on the exact model, cable connections, mounting arrangement, temperature and applicable safety approvals.

6. Can FAHOLD provide OEM Class 2 multi-channel power supplies and samples?

Yes. FAHOLD supports model matching, sample evaluation and OEM/ODM project inquiries. Provide the LED voltage, load per circuit, required channel count, installation conditions and estimated order quantity to request an appropriate configuration and quotation.
