12V Dimmable LED Power Supplies for Low-Voltage Lighting
A 12V dimmable LED power supply provides regulated 12V DC output to compatible constant-voltage LED loads while supporting a specified dimming control method. It is commonly selected for LED strips, cabinet lighting, display fixtures, illuminated shelving and architectural accent lighting.
FAHOLD offers 12V dimmable LED drivers across multiple power classes, including compact 30W and 60W units and higher-power multi-channel configurations up to 300W. These products help lighting manufacturers and project buyers match power capacity, dimming interface and installation requirements without changing the rated voltage of the LED load.
For a successful installation, confirm the 12V output requirement first. Then compare input voltage, total wattage, output-channel capacity, dimmer compatibility and enclosure protection.

L2-A: Enclosed 12V LED Drivers for Architectural Installations
The FAHOLD L2-A 5-in-1 LED Driver Series is designed for lighting projects requiring protected field connections and flexible control. Its IP65 enclosed construction and available multi-channel configurations make it suitable for cabinet systems, display assemblies and other architectural installations.
For a compact low-voltage application, the L2-030X-012A 30W 12V Dimmable LED Driver provides a rated 12V / 2.5A output with a 100–277Vac input.
L2-F: Waterproof 12V Dimmable Power Supplies
The FAHOLD L2-F Waterproof LED Driver Series provides an IP67 platform for projects that require greater protection against water and dust ingress.
For larger distributed lighting systems, the L2-300B-012-5F 300W 12V Dimmable LED Driver uses five rated 12V / 5A output channels, allowing the load to be divided across multiple branches.
L2D: 12V TRIAC Dimmable Driver for 120V AC Systems
For projects using compatible phase-cut wall dimmers, the L2D TRIAC LED Driver Series offers a 60W 12V constant-voltage model with a 100–120Vac rated input.
The Type B configuration supports TRIAC, ELV and MLV dimming. Type N is non-dimmable and must not be selected for a project requiring brightness control.
How to Size a 12V Dimmable LED Driver
Selecting a 12V LED driver starts with the connected LED load.
For a constant-voltage lighting system:
Required Output Current (A) = Total LED Load Power (W) ÷ 12V
Typical 12V output capacities include:
| Rated Output Power | Total Output Current | Example FAHOLD Configuration |
|---|---|---|
| 30W | 2.5A | L2-A single output |
| 60W | 5A | L2-A single output |
| 120W | 10A total | L2-A, 5A × 2 outputs |
| 180W | 15A total | L2-A, 5A × 3 outputs |
| 240W | 20A total | L2-A, 5A × 4 outputs |
| 300W | 25A total | L2-A, 5A × 5 outputs |
These current values describe the listed L2-A configurations. For multi-channel models, each output must remain within its own rated current limit.
For example, a 120W driver with two 5A outputs does not necessarily provide 10A from either individual output.
Allow appropriate operating headroom, and check the manufacturer's derating information, installation temperature and wiring conditions before selecting the final driver.
12V Dimmable LED Drivers for Cabinet, Display and LED Strip Lighting
LED Strip and Accent Lighting
A 12V dimmable LED driver for LED strips supports compatible constant-voltage strips used in coves, display fixtures, decorative details and architectural accents.
The LED strip's rated voltage must match the driver's 12V DC output. Dimming behavior also depends on the selected controller and the electrical characteristics of the connected strip.
Under-Cabinet and Furniture Lighting
12V dimmable power supplies can be used in compatible under-cabinet lighting, furniture-integrated luminaires, shelving systems and millwork installations.
For these projects, driver dimensions, mounting space, cable routing, acoustic performance and low-end dimming behavior may matter as much as rated wattage.
Retail Display and Showcase Lighting
Retail fixtures may contain several separately distributed 12V LED branches. A multi-channel dimmable driver can help organize these loads while maintaining the required electrical limits for each channel.
Project buyers should confirm whether the complete installation needs a single dimming zone or independently controlled lighting zones. Multiple output channels do not automatically provide independent dimming control.
Choosing Between TRIAC, 0–10V and PWM Dimming
A 12V output rating does not determine which dimming controller a driver can use.
TRIAC / ELV / MLV phase-cut dimming: Suitable for compatible mains-side dimmer systems. Check the actual wall-dimmer model, load and phase-cut compatibility.
0–10V dimming: Relevant to lighting systems using a separate low-voltage control signal. Select a compatible driver and confirm controller behavior and the required dimming range.
PWM control: Certain 5-in-1 drivers support a PWM dimming signal input. This is different from installing an external PWM LED strip controller on the DC output of a non-dimmable supply.
For projects requiring multiple possible control interfaces, review FAHOLD 5-in-1 Dimmable LED Drivers.
For dedicated mains phase-cut control, compare the TRIAC / ELV / MLV Dimmable LED Driver Range.
12V vs 24V Dimmable LED Power Supplies
Both 12V and 24V constant-voltage systems can support professional low-voltage lighting, but they are not interchangeable.
At the same load wattage, a 12V system requires twice the current of a 24V system. For example, a 60W load draws 5A at 12V versus 2.5A at 24V.
Higher current can increase conductor losses and make voltage-drop management more important. This is particularly relevant to longer cable runs and distributed LED strip installations.
Choose a 12V dimmable LED power supply when the LED strip, module or fixture is rated for 12V DC. For a lighting project designed around 24V loads, compare the 24V Dimmable LED Driver Range instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I use a dimmable LED driver with 12V LED strip lights?
Yes. A compatible 12V constant-voltage dimmable LED driver can power and dim 12V LED strips. The driver must match the strip's voltage and load requirements, and its dimming interface must be compatible with the selected controller or wall dimmer.
2. What wattages are available for FAHOLD 12V dimmable LED drivers?
FAHOLD offers 12V 5-in-1 dimmable LED drivers in 30W, 60W, 120W, 180W, 240W and 300W power classes, depending on the series. Selected 60W 12V TRIAC dimmable configurations are also available through the L2D platform.
3. How many 12V LED strips can one dimmable power supply operate?
It depends on the combined strip wattage, output-current limits and number of driver channels. For example, a 120W 12V driver with two 5A output channels provides a total rated capacity of 120W, but each channel must remain within its 5A limit. Cable length and voltage drop must also be considered.
4. Can a 12V dimmable LED power supply work with a 120V AC wall dimmer?
Yes, if the driver is designed for the particular phase-cut control method. FAHOLD L2D Type B supports compatible TRIAC, ELV and MLV dimmers on its 100–120Vac input platform. Verify the actual dimmer and LED load before specifying the driver.
5. What is the difference between a 12V and 24V dimmable LED driver?
Both can supply regulated DC power to compatible low-voltage lighting. At the same wattage, a 12V load draws twice the current of a 24V load, which can affect wiring and voltage drop. Always choose the output voltage specified by the LED strip or fixture.
6. Does FAHOLD provide OEM 12V dimmable LED power supplies?
Yes. FAHOLD supports OEM/ODM sourcing for 12V dimmable LED drivers, including model selection, technical documentation, dimming compatibility assessment, samples and bulk quotations. Share your wattage, controller requirements, installation environment and expected purchase quantity for assistance.
